Your companion can interact with dogs that you know are current on vaccinations.
Your companion can play with dogs that are appropriate in size and energy level.
Repetitive visits create a community of "regulars" who form natural play groups. This familiarity allows your companion to enjoy fun, relaxing play without having to constantly "size up" his or her playmates.
The Dog Park is constantly maintained for cleanliness and safety for both the dogs and their human companions.
A smaller, more timid companion can enjoy playing with those of similar style and taste, while the big, rambunctious guys can have a playfield all their own.
The Farm's Private Dog Park Rules of Membership
Membership to The "Dog Park" at The Farm applies to all dogs that meet our requirements for health and temperament and lets you use the dog park as long as you like during normal hours of operation. These rules are enforced for safety reasons so that you and your dog can enjoy the benefits of a private dog park.
- All Members (dogs) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian 18 years or older.
- Each adult may have only 2 member dogs at a time in the dog park. Proof of current vaccinations must be on file with The Farm.
- All Members must be good-tempered, well-adjusted and exhibit good social skills with both humans and dogs. The Farm reserves the right, in its sole discretion to refuse the participation of any pet whose behavior is deemed unsafe or unsatisfactory.
- All Members participating in interactive group play must be spayed or neutered. Note: A private playfield may be reserved for one-on-one for fetch, frisbee, tug o' war or just unleashed freedom for the unspayed and unneutered dogs or those otherwise socially incompatible.
- Members must be on a 6 foot or shorter lead until they have been released by a Farm staff member within a properly designated Playfield area.
- The safest collar for your dog to wear in a dog park is a break-away collar. The next best collar is a flat buckle collar, fit just loosely enough so that you can pull it off the dog's head without undoing it. Choke chains, pinch or prong collars are allowed for walking your dog to/from the play yards, but are NOT allowed on the dog in the play yards. These collars can be very dangerous, as dogs can get tangled, injured or choked. A safely fitted flat collar (as above) is generally what we recommend. Electronic collars are not allowed.
- NO RUNNING in the play yards for safety reasons – except the dogs, of course! Although the play yards are maintained, they are in a natural setting and the surface is uneven and contains dips and holes. Owners enter at their own risk.
- For safety reasons, no minors under the age of 12 years are allowed in any areas designated as a “Playfield” area. There are areas designated outside the fenced playfields where these young people are welcome to safely watch the members play. All children must be closely supervised at all times and behave in an adult manner; no running, no chasing dogs, no petting of other's dogs unless permission is granted by the owners first. No strollers please.
- If your dog is annoying or aggressive to another dog or to its owner, you must take immediate action. This may mean moving your dog to another play yard, issuing a time-out for your dog, or even leaving the dog park.
- Throwing toys or tennis balls can create competition, jealousy and fights between dogs. If you see this reaction, please refrain from this activity and let the dogs play among themselves.
- Parents and legal guardians must recognize that dogs are excitable creatures and their actions are often unpredictable. The interaction of live animals is inherently dangerous and as a result, injuries and/or illnesses may occur. Parents and legal guardians wishing to participate in the "Dog Park" Program must execute a full and unconditional release of liability, releasing The Farm at Natchez Trace, Inc., its representatives, employees and all other participants in the "Dog Park" Program from any and all liability for any illness or injury which they and/or their pet may suffer or incur as a result of their presence at The Farm or participation in the "Dog Park" Program.
- No inhumane treatment of dogs is allowed. This means no kicking, punching, hitting or poking with objects, slapping the nose, face or head.
- Dogs and/or children are not allowed to be left unattended in vehicles, regardless of the temperature.
- ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING and NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
- NO DOG TREATS OR FOOD in the play yards. Treats or food can create jealousy and aggression between dogs. Instead, take a seat and watch your dog play.
- The play yards are open on rainy days, however, please note that our fields can get very muddy when wet.
- Lastly, have fun!
